JUST IN: Man jumps into Lagos Lagoon, rescue efforts ongoing

Efforts are being made by emergency responders to rescue the victim.

An unidentified adult has reportedly jumped into the lagoon at Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge area of Lagos State.

According to reports gathered, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, but emergency responders are currently making efforts to recover the victim from the water.

The area has also been cordoned off by the police.

Confirming the incident, the state Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that efforts are currently ongoing to rescue the victim from the water.

“The incident happened truly. Marine police and the Lagos State emergency officials are here. Efforts are still on to bring out his body dead or alive,” he said.

The Head, Public Education of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Amodu Shakiru, also confirmed the incident.

He said: “We got a distress call at about 2:43 pm and we moved down to the location. There is no update yet.”
