Facts about the Eye Infection Apollo

Recently, I have come across a lot of people wearing dark shades, not for fashion but because they have Conjunctivitis also known as Apollo.

It seems like Conjunctivitis is currently on the move as some of my colleagues and even family members have all in recent times suffered from this eye Infection. I am banking on my immune system, hygiene and limitations of contacts with persons infected with Apollo to keep me from getting infected because when it comes to Apollo I am a grown scaredy-cat.

Anyways, here are a few facts you should know about the Apollo eye infection.

If you call Conjunctivitis, Apollo, you are not wrong. Conjunctivitis is also known as Apollo or eyesore. So if you are one of those who feel Apollo is just a Nigerian local name coined by uneducated people to represent Conjunctivitis, you are extremely wrong.

Apollo is a communicable disease. It can be transferred from one person to another. Avoid physical contact with people suffering from Apollo so you do not get infected. Also, maintain good hygiene by not sharing towels. Frankly, people with Apollo should be given days off at their workplace and they should limit their social presence to curb the spread of the infection.

Apollo can infect both adults and children. My two-year-old nephew was the first person to recently have Apollo in my family and both his parents got infected. I think he got it from school. Honestly, anyone with Apollo should get treatment and stay at home while they heal so the infection is not widely spread.

Some of the Symptoms of Apollo are;

Redness of the eye(s).

Itching of the eye(s).

Feeling gritty mostly when you blink.

Eye discharge creates something crusty around the eyelids which stops them from opening.

Tearing up regularly.

Apollo can be very irritating but it is not dangerous especially if treated timely. However, if not treated the symptoms might cause damages that might affect your vision.

Apollo can be treated by antibiotic eye drops or ointments for bacterial conjunctivitis. Nevertheless, ensure to get a prescription from a doctor before commencing treatment. Note that Apollo can be caused either by a bacterial or viral infection. It can also be an allergy.

Good health is underrated. Ensure to care for your eyes always.
