He also disclosed that he has been living in Cotonou for sometime now and he his now free of all legal encumbrance.
Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, who his popularly known as Sunday Igboho has regained his freedom after two years of trial in the Republic of Benin.
Igboho confirmed news of his release to the Nigerian Tribune, staying that he is now free to leave Cotonou for Nigeria and any other country of his choice.
In his words, he said: “I am now free to return to Nigeria and visit any country in the world. I have fulfilled all the legal conditions attached to my bail a few years back and I am coming home to Nigeria, my country of origin, any moment from now.
“I can confirm to you that I am now free to come back to Nigeria. There is no legal encumbrance again. Even though I have been living in Cotonou for some time, I can confirm to you categorically that I have now secured the liberty to leave Cotonou for Nigeria,” the embattled activist said.
Recall that Igboho ran into trouble with the administration of former President
Muhammudu Buhari, after he declared Yoruba Nation’s sovereignty.
He launched campaign to chase killer Fulani herdsmen and kidnappers out of Yorubaland.
This action prompted the Department of State Services (DSS) to launch a manhunt for him as he was declared wanted.
Igboho’s residence was raided by operatives of the DSS, where AK-47 rifles and thousands of ammunition were recovered. This prompted Igboho to flee to Cotonou, where he was eventually arrested in July 2021.
He was arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic while attemting to flee to Germany.
