In the world of gymnastics, Simone Biles is widely regarded as the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT).

Recently Twitter created a custom ‘GOAT’ emoji for the epic athlete. She is the first Olympic athlete with a custom emoji. The artistic gymnast has a total of 30 Olympic and World Championship medals. She is the most decorated American gymnast.

This 2021 Tokyo Olympics is likely to be the decorated athlete’s last participation in the competition. Therefore, the eyes of everyone with an interest in gymnastics are on Simone Biles.

Simone Biles Pulls Out From the Women’s Gymnastics Finals

In a stunning twist of events, the star athlete withdrew from the women’s gymnastic finals over what has now been disclosed as ‘Mental Issues.’

This came after she did not do the ‘Amanar’ which everyone expected of her. Amanar is a vault that starts with a roundoff back handspring onto the vault followed by two-and-a-half twists.

In the last minutes, it seems Biles changed her mind as she only did one-and-a-half twists, and surprisingly she stumbled as she landed on the mat. She did not score as high as she normally would in a competition of this calibre.

During the women’s gymnastics finals, Biles sat on the bench to cheer and encourage her team but she did not join them in competing. Nevertheless, team U.S.A was still able to secure a silver medal as they finished second to team Russia.

Simon Biles made a post on Instagram to shower praises on her team who gave their best even though she was not at her best.

The talented gymnast seems to be getting overwhelmed by pressure. Before pulling out of the finals, Biles made an Instagram post and expressed how she felt like the weight of the world was on her shoulders.

There are still five individual gymnastic competitions all of which the decorated gymnast is qualified to compete. Her fans are hopeful to see her and compete and win as she always does. In the Rio Olympics of 2016, she won four gold medals. An amazing gymnast.

She has assured her fans that she intends to compete in the remaining individual competitions. In her words,

“I’m OK, just dealing with things internally, that will be fixed in the next couple of days.”

People have taken to social media to display support for the athlete.
