At some point we all have been in relationships or situationships as the case may be and we know the efforts we had to put in to make it work. Fortunately, it worked out for some people and for others, they were sent back to the drawing board. Now it doesn’t matter if you are hooked or not, the truth still remains there are things men want out of a relationship.
Here are a few things you should know:
What? Yeah, I know you weren’t expecting that, but you know it’s true. The old saying that the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach still holds water and will for a long time. So, that special man in your life deserves to be spoiled with food, preferably good homemade food. Ask him what his favourites are and surprise him not just one time or on special occasions but as often as possible.
Respect is reciprocal. It’s not enough to love someone or make good cooked foods for them, everyone deserves to be treated with respect, irrespective of age or gender nor is it enough to show the whole world how loved up you both are, how you treat him matters. The words you choose to say to him matter, how you say those words matter, the manner in which you express your pains, anger, high and low moments matter. No one wants to be treated below bar, He most definitely doesn’t want that either. So the earlier you start treating your man with respect, the better for you both.
Attention comes in different doses, in excess, one is an attention seeker and in deficient quantities, your best guess is as good as mine. Everyone needs someone they can talk to, pour out their feelings to, say what it it is that’s bothering them without fear of being judged or criticized. A man wants a woman who isn’t just a listener but an active one, one who actually listens and understands, because it’s one thing to listen, it’s another thing to understand what’s being said, a woman who doesn’t see him as an alpha male void of emotions and feelings but as someone who once in a while wants to crawl up into your arms knowing you’re their safe space. Do you know how sweet it is to be reminded of something important you said weeks back, there’s this little smile their heart makes knowing you actually paid attention to what they told you.
As a person, we are made of hormones, blood, water and everything nice. Now being an introvert, extrovert or an ambivert doesn’t count when it comes to space. Times will always arise when he wants to be all by himself without any sort of interference, noise or distraction, now this doesn’t mean he no longer cares about you or he’s seeing some other woman or man, no, it just means he’s a normal human being who wants to take out time from his busy schedule and self – reflect or simply just be by himself. Do not see it as an avenue to nag or complain, you need to understand that he is first a human person before being your partner.
From being pampered to being babied to being spoiled with gifts to being praised and appreciated, men want it all, now maybe your man doesn’t say all of these but deep down, he wishes you would do all of these to him. It’s just with all the toxic masculinity circulating the atmosphere they most times do not voice it out. They have always been expected from time immemorial to be the one who does all of the calling, texting, taking out on dates, paying the bills and trust me it can be draining, it’s only expected he breaks down eventually. So, if you have a man in your life who you cherish, you should always let him know how proud you are to have him in your life, how important he means to you, how strong he is, compliment him on how hard he works, how nice he looks, smells, all of it, go all out for him that’s why he is your man. Don’t bottle up your feelings because you think telling him will make him all soft, no! bin that thought. It’s 2020 and we are all for balanced relationships.
In conclusion, basically treat him the same way you want to be treated. If we can all do these then we won’t have so much break-ups and divorces. Don’t just read this and trash it, put it to good use. Adios!
