Nigeria Federal Government has urged Nigerians to continue observing Covid-19 preventive measures, as the vaccines for the Virus(Covid-19) will not be available until 2021.

The information about the availability of Covid-19 vaccines was given by, Minister of health, Osagie Ehanire, during a meeting held by the Presidential Task Force(PTF).

“Vaccines will not be available until next year at best. No reliable therapeutics has been confirmed, but our country(Nigeria) must restart businesses, including travel to allow citizens to earn their livelihood.” The minister said

It is undeniable that the novel corona virus(SARS-Cov-2) and the disease it causes(Covid-19) has caused significant disruptions in Nigeria’s economy, as businesses both big and small were shut down in order to control the spread of the Virus.

While Waiting for Covid-19 vaccines, Nigeria’s Federal government has decided to buffer the economic impact of the spread of the virus, by approving reopening of businesses across the country.

However, many people, have abandoned Covid-19 preventive measures to the extent of not putting on a mask in public places, which is against PTF’s guidelines.

Consequently, the Secretary to the government of the Federation(SGF), Boss Mustapha, has warned Nigerians to continue observing Covid-19 protocols with vigilance. Reminding all that the reopening of economic institutions in other nations led to a spike in the spread of the Virus.
